Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know.

How Market Prism works, what our AI analyzes, and how to get the most from our platform.

Platform

What is Market Prism?
Market Prism is an AI-powered stock analysis platform that uses narrative intelligence to detect when media stories about stocks are backed by real fundamentals and when they are manufactured hype. We analyze SEC filings, earnings data, price action, and news coverage to give you a forensic view of every ticker we track.
How is Market Prism different from other stock analysis tools?
Most tools show you what the market is doing. Market Prism shows you why stories are being told and whether those stories are trustworthy. Our system cross-references narrative claims against SEC filings, detects coordinated media campaigns, measures how quickly stories decay, and flags narrative traps before they collapse. This forensic approach is unique in the market.
What tickers does Market Prism cover?
We track over 100 actively traded US equities across 14 sectors including AI Infrastructure, Semiconductors, Cloud Computing, Energy, Defense, Fintech, and more. Coverage is focused on names where narrative analysis is most valuable: high-attention, high-volatility stocks where media stories move price.
How often is the data updated?
Our narrative scorecard pipeline runs daily before market open, analyzing overnight news, filings, and price action. Live stock prices update every 30 seconds during market hours via Polygon. Sector intelligence and trading signals are refreshed each morning. The Trading Calendar and Leaderboard update in real-time as new data arrives.

Methodology

What is a Narrative Trap?
A Narrative Trap is a stock where the bullish media story is not supported by underlying fundamentals. Our AI detects these by comparing what news outlets and analysts claim against SEC filings, earnings data, and price structure. When coverage is coordinated, energy is decaying, and fundamentals contradict the narrative, we flag it as a trap. Historically, narrative traps tend to underperform the market within 5-20 trading days.
What does Structurally Supported mean?
A Structurally Supported verdict means the narrative around a stock is backed by real fundamentals: earnings growth, revenue beats, improving margins, or strong institutional positioning. These stocks have stories that are verified by data rather than manufactured by hype. Our system checks SEC filings, earnings surprises, and price-volume confirmation before issuing this verdict.
How does the Narrative Energy model work?
Narrative Energy measures the intensity and decay of media coverage around a stock. We track five dimensions: propagation speed (how fast a story spreads), half-life (how long it persists), coordination score (whether multiple outlets publish similar stories simultaneously), drift from fundamentals, and absolute energy level. These combine into a regime classification: Explosive, High, Moderate, or Low energy. High energy with weak fundamentals often signals a trap.
What is Fair Value Deviation (FVD)?
Fair Value Deviation measures how far a stock's current price is from our AI-estimated fair value. A positive FVD means the stock trades above fair value (potentially overvalued), while a negative FVD means it trades below (potentially undervalued). FVD is calculated using earnings, revenue growth, margins, and sector-relative multiples. We use this in our Value Picks lane and Leaderboard rankings.
How does Market Prism detect coordinated media campaigns?
Our coordination detection system analyzes the timing, language similarity, and source clustering of news articles about each ticker. When multiple outlets publish stories with overlapping claims within a narrow time window, especially without a fundamental catalyst like an earnings release or SEC filing, we flag elevated coordination. High coordination combined with weak fundamentals is one of the strongest narrative trap signals.

Signals & Data

What are the Daily Plays trade lanes?
Daily Plays organizes signals into six trade lanes based on timeframe and catalyst: Day Trade (intraday setups), Swing Trade (5-7 day window), Momentum (trending with narrative support), Earnings Play (earnings-driven opportunities), Value Picks (below fair value), and Narrative Traps (manipulation alerts). Each lane shows expected returns, hold periods, and directional signals based on our narrative scorecard.
What is the Sector Intelligence panel?
Sector Intelligence tracks 14 market sectors with daily momentum scores, narrative state (Surging, Stable, Fragile, Cooling), and bullish/bearish direction derived from live price action. Each sector card shows the top tickers, trap counts, and a narrative summary explaining what is driving the sector. This is refreshed daily from our pipeline analysis.
How accurate are Market Prism's signals?
Our Track Record page shows verified historical performance across all signal types. Accuracy varies by lane and market conditions. We publish hit rates, average returns at 5-day and 10-day horizons, and annualized portfolio-level returns. We also track analyst accuracy in our Leaderboard. Past performance is not indicative of future results, and signals should be used as one input in your investment process.
What data sources does Market Prism use?
We aggregate data from SEC EDGAR filings, earnings reports, live market feeds via Polygon, news coverage from major financial publications, and social media sentiment. Our AI processes this through seven forensic layers including narrative classification, decay physics, filing forensics, coordination detection, Bayesian reliability scoring, fair value stress testing, and contagion mapping. See our Methodology page for the full breakdown.
